ADHD & Christmas: A Gentle Reminder ![]()

The holidays can be magical… but for many of us with ADHD, they can also be a lot.
There’s the noise, the crowds, the last‑minute changes, the socializing with people we barely know, the pressure to be “on,” and the traffic that tests every ounce of our emotional regulation.
Most people find this season stressful — but for ADHD brains, everything is turned up a few notches.More feelings.More overwhelm.More “why is everyone talking at once?”More “I swear this mall is a maze designed by a villain.”
So this is your gentle Christmas reminder:
Check on your ADHD friends.
They might be overwhelmed, overstimulated, or quietly trying to hold it together.
Sometimes all we need is a body double — someone to stand beside us at the staff party, walk with us through the mall, or help us breathe through the chaos of a family gathering.
If you’re the one struggling today, please know you’re not alone. You’re not dramatic. You’re not failing. Your brain is just doing its best in a season that demands a lot.
Wishing you a warm, gentle, beautifully imperfect Christmas.
May you find pockets of calm, people who understand you, and moments where your nervous system finally sighs in relief.
